Our mission..

Triangle Speakers work to eliminate the fear, prejudice, and hatred against gay, lesbian, bisexual and Transgender(GLBT) people so that a healthy environment exists for all members of our community in North Carolina . Triangle Speakers actively pursues a sensitive and meaningful process to increase our cultural competency.

Triangle Speakers  was recently formed in Western North Carolina by Jennifer M. Barge. As an activist in the Trans community, she based the need for this kind of education on her concern about the risks that gay youth face in the community and local schools. The organization was created with the objective of providing information to dispel myths and stereotypes about gay, lesbian, bisexual and Transgendered people:

  · so that sexual minority and questioning youth feel affirmation and support, instead of isolation and despair;

  · to ensure that all youth, school personnel and community members are sensitized to the issues faced by youth who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, Transgendered or who are questioning their sexual orientation, as well as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or Transgendered staff;


  · to help create a healthy, safe and supportive environment for all individuals in the Carolinas.
